Narcotics
SBI's Narcotics Unit is dedicated to combating illegal drug activity within Utah. The unit's primary focus is investigating, suppressing, and dismantling drug trafficking organizations operating in the state.
To achieve this, the Narcotics Unit frequently collaborates with local, federal, and multi-state agencies. They also provide investigative support to the Utah Highway Patrol and working closely with the UHP's Criminal Interdiction Team on drug-related investigations.

SBI actively engages with communities to build trust and enhance public safety. They achieve this through initiatives like public education on crime prevention, fostering partnerships with local groups, and organizing outreach events. The Fentanyl Task Force is committed to addressing the fentanyl crisis by identifying and resolving critical gaps in data collection, prevention, treatment, awareness and law enforcement efforts.
Through comprehensive data collection, collaboration, and strategic intervention, the task force aims to reduce demand by addressing root causes and removing fentanyl from Utah’s communities. By fostering partnerships across federal, state, and local agencies, the task force is dedicated to disrupting trafficking networks and ensuring a safer future for all Utahns.
